Andres Jimenez, better known as Dilemastronauta, is not just a musician or producer—he's a pioneering force in the world of Tropical Futuristic music. Born in Colombia and having spent 25 transformative years in the dynamic cultural hub of New York, Dilemastronauta has carved out a bold, genre-defying path with his innovative sound.
Dilemastronauta was the co-founder of the band M.A.K.U Sound system who which he recorded 5 albums and toured the world.
In 2016 he co-founded Combo Chimbita and has recorded more than 5 LP,s and 4 singles. They keep touring the world.
2025 was a very prolific year as Dilema toured the United States with Tunisian singer EMEL. For Jimenez it was quite a musical challenge and a wonderful opportunity to learn from one of the most outspoken arabic singer of her generation.
Later that year Dilemastronauta released the album Sleepwalk on figure and ground records.
His groundbreaking albums, En Órbita (2017) and the 8 Supernovas mixtape (2020), have redefined the boundaries of music, while his 2024 single "Llegó" further amplifies his distinct vision.
Each release is a vibrant tapestry of percussive folkloric traditions, swirling psychedelia, and audacious improvisational experimentation—an otherworldly blend that pulls listeners into a cosmic journey of sound. On November 7, 2025, Dilemastronauta y La Tripulación Cósmica (The Cosmic Crew is Carlos Rienzo on Millo Flute, Alegre Drums, Ricardo Gallo on Synth, Juan Ospina on Bass, and Dilemastronauta on Drums. released SLEEPWALK, a vinyl LP on Figure and Ground Records featuring a full-length 5 track album. The release explores the hypnotic, Colombian Millo flute as well as the rooted rhythms of the Caribbean Drumset, Jazz Ride Cymbals, Roland 404, David Bowies 80's beats layered with experimental synth textures, offering a deep glimpse into his evolving sonic universe.
Dilemastronauta has been playing all the major festivals like: Global Fest 2026, Festival Calaveras 2025, Ohana Fest in California curated by Pearl Jam 2022, Trans Musical in France 2022, Roskilde in Denmark 2010 and many others.
